Nest News - more babies

As of this morning, we have three babies occupying the nursery. We hope the other two egss will hatch in the next day or two. Mama Robin is frequently gone finding worms, so we can sneak in for a peek to see what the little ones are up to. Usually they greet us with mouths open wide. Such a miracle, life is!
Saturday morning

Saturday Afternoon-notice that the egg that is most visible appears to be starting to crack!

A morning on the lake

We took advantage of a beautiful morning and the opening of fishing season to spend the morning at Silver Lake. We enjoyed the beauty and being together as a family. Notice the absence of a long stringer of fish, however! It certainly wasn't wasted time, though!

Hatching!

So, first baby robin hatched this afternoon! So very exciting. We'll be watching the nest closely for a few days.

Wednesday Nest News

Mama robin is getting very protective of her nest, and rarely leaves the nest, making it difficult for the peeking camera! She left briefly this morning and I took a peek, still the five eggs. Mama scolded me crossly from across the way! Megan tells me that it takes 12-14 days for the eggs to hatch, so I am thinking somewhere between the 24th and the 28th, we should see some little babies! However, some of the eggs may have been laid earlier than others, so we'll see! We'll share pictures when it happens!

And then there were five!

This afternoon our peeking camera reveals that mama robin has added another egg to her nest. Will there be still another tomorrow? Such beautiful blue eggs!

Oroville Visit

The girls and I spent a few days of our spring break in Oroville visiting family & friends there. We visited the park(s) every day, flew our kite, took walks, and generally relaxed! We loved getting re-aquainted with Charlee! She's a doll, as evidenced below!

Front yard visitor

Our front yard visitor is a mama robin, who has built this sturdy little nest in our evergreen clematis on our front porch. I can't blame her choice of location - out of the rain, right in the middle of beautiful fragrant white clematis flowers, and handily right near a very cute new bird feeder that I hung on the front porch. I can't quite get high enough to peer in the nest, so I just held up the camera to peek in for me. We look forward to tracking the progress daily!

Backyard visitor

We've enjoyed watching this little backyard visitor - he (or maybe it's a she?) comes every day, sometimes more than once. Although it makes a bit of a mess, it isn't a total pig and we enjoy watching!
