Pumpkins

Tonight was pumpkin carving night at our house. The girls and Rob had great fun brining "life" to their pumpkins. As you can see, they turned out great! They are now in their places of honor on the porch!

Skate America Event

On Saturday, Carissa and I attended the Skate America event, held at the Comcast Arena in Everett. This is one of several events that lead up to the 2010 Olympics. We attended the session that included ice dancing and the pairs free skate. There were skaters representing the USA, Canada, France, Germany, China, Great Britian, Lithuania and Russia. It was interesting and fun to watch! The Russian Pairs faced an "upset" and fell from their 1st place ranking after the short program, to 3rd, so that was rather dramatic :-)

This is ice dancing pair Allie Hann-McCurdy and Micheal Moreno, from Canada
Pairs Meagan Duhamel and Craig Buntin from Canada
This couple is married: Sinead and John Kerr from Great Britain. This was just before SHE tossed him over her head into a backwards somersault! That was impressive!
Ice dancers Emily Samuelson and Evan Bates from the USA

Awards ceremony for Pairs. We had terrific seats, but found ourselves behind the action for the awards. All well, you can't have it all. From left: 3rd place to Maria Mukhortova and Maxim Trankov (Russia), 1st place to Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy from Germany and 2nd place to Keauna McLaughlin and Rockne Brubaker from the USA.

Weekend on Whidbey

We had a very delightful weekend on Whidbey Island, complete with sunshine! Yay! We relaxed, visited the beach, enjoyed the Coupeville Farmer's Market, visited with Don & Cody, ate lots of good food, and had a wonderful meeting at Aylesworths.

Here are our "school" pictures for 2008 - I have found I like taking my own much better ~ no boring blue backgrounds for us!!

Oh, a campin' we will go...a campin' we will go...

We quite enjoyed our tent camping trip this summer, but decided that we would also like the comfort of trailer camping, so we had been keeping our eyes out for one that fit our needs (light weight enough to be pulled by our Highlander, spacious enough not to have us stacked on top of one another, not too expensive, etc). We found this Aerolite a couple weekends ago and it fit just right. It is 10 years old, but in relatively good shape. It's 25' and has bunks in the back for the girls, which they love. We like the thought of keeping it "stocked" and ready to go (minus food and clothes of course), so we can take off when the weather is good. We'll see if that is a reality or not, but we are hoping so! Of course, not likely until spring now.

Looking toward the back (door to bathroom back right), the bunks are behind the partition back left.
The girls bunking it - we had to try it out before the weather turned too awful!!
