We spent some time in BC, EH?

We headed up to Harrison Hot Springs yesterday afternoon and spent the night. Enjoyed walking around the lake, viewing sand sculptures, soaking away all our cares in the warm pools. We were joined by our friends, Trevor, Carissa, Wade & Dean. Here's a few random snapshots...

In Loving Memory

One of the local cemeteries has a beautiful display of flags for Memorial Day - 1300 of them, in fact. Today was a beautiful day and the cemetery was truly awesome. These pictures don't really do it justice, but maybe you can imagine. We visited dear friends - Glen & Shirley McG, Ed H, Devin H, Rob's grandparents.

The flowers in the foreground here are on Rob's grandparent's grave

It'll be a family of 4 this time!

Long Weekend!

The girls and I began the long weekend today - the Lynden Schools took the day off to give us a 4-day weekend. Natalia had her best friend, Emily, spend the night last night, so they had great fun. We walked to the park today, and just generally spent a good day, mostly outside. We are looking forward to going to Harrison Hot Springs Sunday afternoon to see the sand sculptures and soak in the hot springs. We'll spend the night and then come home Monday afternoon. Here are a few pics from the park.

Girls of Summer

Yes, it seemed like summer this weekend. Yesterday we did a lot of clean up outside and some pressure washing, and today we spent the afternoon with friends out at Birch Bay. Beautiful!

Another family!

We noticed that Mama Robin has been hanging out again, and so we took a peek inside this afternoon while she was away, and guess what - she likes our front porch so well that she's going to raise another family there! What fun!

Full Circle

Well, here we are, full circle. The babies have set out on their own to explore the big wide world. Last night as I watered my flowers, Mama and Papa robin were giving flying lessons and encouragement. Mama robin is often nearby with a worm in her mouth, appearing somewhat lost without hungry mouths to feed - this empty nest thing takes some getting used to!

Crowded House!

Well, the nest is getting mighty crowded at this point, as you can see. These little guys are getting orange feathers now, and looking more like robins everyday. The only one who opened his mouth for me is the one who can't see out :-) They haven't practiced flying yet, but I am thinking real soon.

Face painting

We found a face painter downtown Lynden today as part of the Holland Days event.

Growing

Wow, what a change since the last picture on Thursday! They are starting to look like little robins. And the nest is starting to look a little small! They have their eyes open now too - the oldest is 8 days old.

The moments, the days, the joys of Rob, Christina, Natalia & Johanna
