On Saturday, Carissa and I attended the Skate America event, held at the Comcast Arena in Everett. This is one of several events that lead up to the 2010 Olympics. We attended the session that included ice dancing and the pairs free skate. There were skaters representing the USA, Canada, France, Germany, China, Great Britian, Lithuania and Russia. It was interesting and fun to watch! The Russian Pairs faced an "upset" and fell from their 1st place ranking after the short program, to 3rd, so that was rather dramatic :-)
This is ice dancing pair Allie Hann-McCurdy and Micheal Moreno, from Canada
Awards ceremony for Pairs. We had terrific seats, but found ourselves behind the action for the awards. All well, you can't have it all. From left: 3rd place to Maria Mukhortova and Maxim Trankov (Russia), 1st place to Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy from Germany and 2nd place to Keauna McLaughlin and Rockne Brubaker from the USA.
